I *think* that the version of the gnus package is old enough that it
doesn't have anything that's not in the emacs22 version, but I could be
wrong.  (I agree that if it were tracking the No Gnus development
releases, it would have other things in it as well, but it's not; it
hasn't been updated since 2006.)

I'm not at all sure.  :)  I personally switched from XEmacs to Emacs some
time back for better Unicode handling and since then haven't been
following XEmacs at all.
