As discussed on [EMAIL PROTECTED], the preinst script uses a function from our common.functions.preinst snippet which uses the "local" keyword in a manner not mandated by policy, which only allows it on a separate line, without a variable assignment at the same time. This is not a question of dash or not, it's simply a violation of policy. The patch is simple: Just rebuild the source package from the SVN repository, common.functions.preinst already contains the fix.
