Package: hplip
Version: 2.8.4-1
Severity: normal

In my Xfce systray, I now have hplip icon. Its menu has 3 items:

1. "HPLIP status service", greyed out, is this just the menu title?

2. "HP Device Manager", nothing happens when I select it

3. "Quit", well, this is the only action that I can do with the
systray icon, which is pretty pointless

In .xsession-errors, I see this error message when I try to start the device
manager:

error: PyQt not installed. GUI not available. Exiting.
warning: Qt/PyQt initialization failed.
error: hp-toolbox requires GUI support. Exiting.

hplip (2.8.5-2ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Sync new upstream release from Debian.
WARNING: There were major changes applied to the hp-toolbox which
introduced new bugs. Please test the toolbox and report any problem
as soon as possible to the upstream bug tracker
http://launchpad.net/hplip/ to get the problems fixed in the next
upstream release (there will be one or two before Intrepid Feature
    Freeze).

  [ Mark Purcell ]
  * Stop hplip.post{rm,inst} playing with scanner group - libsane does
and do not delete hplip user on purge:
    - postrm attempts to remove group scanner unconditionally (Closes:
    #476126)
    - unconditional use of deluser in postrm (Closes: #454084)
  * Build-Depends: python-qt3, python-qt4
    - HPLIP is still essentially a Qt3 application (Closes: #482095)
