Unfortunately, it appears that this still won't fix the FTBFS since the 8051 assembler will only be in the non-free version of the sdcc package. Working with the gnuradio upstream on a solution to this. FYI, and for others reading along, the dependency on sdcc is in support of building the firmware for the USRP peripheral, which is not actually essential for use of the rest of gnuradio, but is common enough within the gnuradio user community to be integrated into the main source tree.
