I leave my personal workstation accessible at all times, as many people do. Every now and then, I find it has frozen - Probably once a week or so. The culprit is always the "flurry" hack - When I come back, I have Flurry on my screen, with some memory corruption (i.e. blocks, usually around 100x20 guesstimated pixels, with seemingly random colors but each of them with a single color, and with random-like patterns in them between the base color and the black background). The hack runs fine for some time, at least - it's not an easy to predict lockup. Of course, I decided to better uncheck this hack from my xscreensaver preferences... lspci reports that my graphic card is: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) No other hacks (or 3D effects - I'm not a Compiz user, but have used it to show it off) cause this behaviour. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-4-vserver-amd64 Debian Release: lenny/sid 500 unstable www.iiec.unam.mx 500 unstable ftp.mx.debian.org 1 etch-backports www.backports.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ================================-+-============= libc6 (>= 2.7-1) | 2.7-11 libgl1-mesa-glx | 7.0.3-1 OR libgl1 | libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.0) | 2.16.3-2 libglu1-mesa | 7.0.3-1 OR libglu1 | libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.12.0) | 2.12.9-4 libice6 (>= 1:1.0.0) | 2:1.0.4-1 libsm6 | 2:1.0.3-1+b1 libx11-6 | 2:1.0.3-7 libxext6 | 2:1.0.4-1 libxmu6 | 2:1.0.4-1 libxpm4 | 1:3.5.7-1 libxt6 | 1:1.0.5-3 libxxf86vm1 | 1:1.0.1-3 -- Gunnar Wolf - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - (+52-55)5623-0154 / 1451-2244 PGP key 1024D/8BB527AF 2001-10-23 Fingerprint: 0C79 D2D1 2C4E 9CE4 5973 F800 D80E F35A 8BB5 27AF -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
