Bug#477484: gdm does not start with high resolutions (e.g. 1280x1024)

Hello,

I found out that gdm works perfectly if I use the X.org autoconfiguration
feature. I disabled xdebconfigurator and X.org automatically choose the
right configuration. I also found out that kdm has a similar problem.
If I start kdm instead of gdm I only get the background-image but no
login-window. So I suggest that this is not a bug in gdm but some other
package (maybe X.org?).
