Hi, thanks for reassigning this bug. You are right, libacpi currently reads information from proc and has some hack in it in Debian to read some information from the sysfs. However reimplementing parts and having a clean sysfs + procfs implementation as fallback is still on my todo list, sadly I am too busy with other stuff atm. Patches welcome.
