this is somewhat a follow up bug for #356853, in which this issue was discussed earlier. Since this bug contains information about half a gazillion of different TeX packages, most of which are now settled to be free, or removed, it's hard to track the real issues. Therefore I am opening bugs for the things that remain, and this is for amslatex. I'll try to gather all the information about this particular package and forward the messages individually, as soon as I get a bug number.
