can you please provide a "ls -dla /var/lib/gallery2/g2data/"? Here it looks 
like:

# ls -dla /var/lib/gallery2/g2data/
drwxr-xr-x 8 www-data www-data 4096 Apr 23  2007 /var/lib/gallery2/g2data/
