Internet was not accessible from the build systems. For what it's worth, I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. I just tried with pbuilder in a clean up-to-date sid chroot. I also checked that it did not make any communication with the outside (besides downloading the build-dependencies). The "ls: ./check_sizeof: No data available"-alike lines in your log look very strange to me... Is there anything special with your build systems, such as a special filesystem or a special /bin/sh?
