Package: icedove Version: 2.0.0.9-3 Followup-For: Bug #461981 Hi,
On a fresh install, icedove does not work: - If it is ran for the first time, the import window appears, but there is no response from any button. After closing the window, icedove crashes silently. - Otherwise, icedove just crashes silently, even with a .mozilla-thunderbird directory imported from another computer. If I run "strace icedove", it outputs many things up to: open("/usr/lib/icedove/init.d/", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY|0x80000) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/home/charles/.icedove/init.d/", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY|0x80000) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 stat64("/usr/lib/icedove/init.d/S*", 0xffae9b18) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 stat64("/home/charles/.icedove/init.d/S*", 0xffae9b18) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, NULL, [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [INT CHLD], [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [CHLD], [INT CHLD], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [INT CHLD], NULL, 8) = 0 _llseek(255, -91, [5086], SEEK_CUR) = 0 clone(child_stack=0, flags=CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID|CLONE_CHILD_SETTID|SIGCHLD, child_tidptr=0xf7fd1048) = 8805 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [CHLD], [], 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [CHLD], [], 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGINT, {0x1003d5b0, [], 0}, {SIG_DFL}, 8) = 0 waitpid(-1, Then it pauses until the import wizard is closed, and then it outputs: [{WIFEXITED(s) && WEXITSTATUS(s) == 1}], 0) = 8805 rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0 --- SIGCHLD (Child exited) @ 0 (0) --- waitpid(-1, 0xffae9988, WNOHANG) = -1 ECHILD (No child processes) sigreturn() = ? Process 8794 detached Interstingly, icedove on i386 and icedove on powerpc do not ask the same question on the first startup: on i386 it proposes to "Don't import anything", while on powerpc it asks if the things to import come from Netscape 4 / Mozilla 1 or Netscape 6.
