Yes, I reached the same conclusion independently... I can reproduce it in two way: 1) Using a X server running woody 2) Using the fglrx nonfree ATI driver On the other hand, gcompris work fine under X server running the free radeon ATI driver, and more importantly the option --noxrandr allow to work around the problem, so I downgrade the bug. Remaining problems: 1) The --noxrandr option is not documented in the manpage. I found it by grepping through the code. Maybe the manpage should be regenerate with help2man. 2) gcompris seems to always segfault when quitting. 3) gcompris more or less assume that if RANDR is available at build-time it will be availabe at run-time. This is wrong, it must check if the X server support the extension at run-time.
