I forgot to copy the bug number in the changelog snippet: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=433477 The text from the manpage is: binary:Version The binary package version (which may differ from source:Version in a binNMU for example). It's not too explicit. But I think the change does make dpkg-gencontrol more consistent.
