Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.17-2
Severity: important
Since yesterday (when I upgraded mutt 1.5.17-1 -> 1.5.17-2), mutt seems to
manage to corrupt its header_cache and display wrong information. Example:
Currently in my Debian mailbox I see:
1 C 10/16 Olivier Berger (1,2K) Re: [Fwd: RFS: twiki-ldapcontrib -
LDAP services for TWiki]
2 11/25 Peter Palfrader (0,5K) [rt.debian.org #304] da-backup
consistency checks
3 + 01/06 Benoit Peccatte (0,3K) Logo Planet debian
-> 4 + 01/06 Benoit Peccatte (0,3K) └=>
I see two time the same mails from the author/subject point of view. When I
read the content of those two mails, I get to see once the real mail and once
some extracts from another mail of the same folder.
I quit mutt and then:
$ LANG=C grep "Logo Planet debian" /home/rhertzog/.mutt_cache/*
Binary file /home/rhertzog/.mutt_cache/d09e592ae545c29a00cd229d0f04df28 matches
$ rm /home/rhertzog/.mutt_cache/d09e592ae545c29a00cd229d0f04df28
$ mutt
And I see the real content now:
-> 1 T 10/16 Olivier Berger (2,3K) ┬─>Re: [Fwd: RFS: twiki-ldapcontrib -
LDAP services for TWiki]
2 C 10/16 Olivier Berger (1,2K) └─>Re: [Fwd: RFS: twiki-ldapcontrib -
LDAP services for TWiki]
3 11/25 Peter Palfrader (0,5K) [rt.debian.org #304] da-backup
consistency checks
4 + 01/06 Benoit Peccatte (0,3K) Logo Planet debian
And if I quit and restart mutt, I see again the corrupted view.
I switched back to 1.5.17-1 and tried the same manipulation and I don't get the
problem any more.
I then upgraded back to the -2 version and I verified that I see the bad view
again but the cache file had not been modified/regenerated. So it looks like
the -2 version badly interprets the cache file.
I can send by private mail the 4 mails above that consistenly duplicate the
problem here. I use Maildirs.
Cheers,
