Can you also check /usr/share/f-spot/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache ? I've looked a bit more, and I did in fact do the more sensible thing with the patch the first time, so the problem would be in the other path. (We're going to start calling the cache update script anyway, but I want to be quite sure what's going on.)
