well, acctually it depends on libgems-ruby1.8 . Do you consider this to
be the same as depend on rubygems? Also, I don't know if it will be easy
to remove this dependency because mongrel plugin system
(libgemplugin-ruby) uses some functions of libgems-ruby1.8. I'n not sure
at the moment, but AFAIK only libgemplugin-ruby call methods from
libgems-ruby1.8, so maybe this dependency could be dropped from mongrel,
but it is needed in libgemplugin-ruby. Otherwise, a plugin library for
rubygems without rubygems support would be funny :D

That's why several packages apply patches during build, so they don't
need rubygems anymore.

However, it's not the case of mongrel: it depends on rubygems.

Should we fix mongrel, or change our position on rubygems?
