The pulseaudio specific package for libsdl (libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio)
does not appear to work at all. Using libsdl1.2debian-all and specifying
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse on the command line, however, works just fine.

As an example, this works just fine with libsdl1.2debian-all installed:

SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse mplayer -ao sdl test.mp3

Using libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio gives the following error:

[AO SDL] Unable to open audio: No available audio device
