this is caused by a change in 1:7.2.ds3-1 to drop the server detection code, which actually dropped too much... I think the following patch will help, and I'll commit something like that once I've tested it. It sets the shared/default-x-server variable to 'xserver-xorg', which should allow dexconf to work again (at least in theory).
