But look at http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=foreign --- foreign 'just builds'. This is probably merely a question of something having changed in the upcoming R 2.6.0, and this stumbled with the R 2.6.0 pre-release package. I'll upload the updated foreign package 0.8.22 and I'm sure all will be fine.
