I am reading through this and realize that probably you will run into
problems with 2 packages:
JempBox and PDFBox which we use custom versions of (to make the download
size smaller).
PDFBox can be used out of the box, but with JempBox we use a really
homebrew version. I would have to check whether we can move to an official
version.
We also will get another couple of dependencies beyond 2.3 on Java Plugin
Framework, which will become even a larger mess.
I will make a big red mark in my todo list, that we clean up those
dependencies, so that debian can include JabRef more easily.
Btw. Gregor, are you a subscriber on the jabref-devel@ list? If not, you
should ask Morten about becoming a developer, so that you can...
