You should patch debian/patches/67_init_hddown.dpatch, not *.orig. Recompile ("dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot") and "dpkg -i sysvinit_*.deb". Shutdown. The warning should be gone. (For me, it works in this situation.)
You can also download a fixed version of the binary package from http://people.debian.org/~stigge/packages/

fix my problem allthough have a system that support the feature (see below) uname -a Linux tri-yann3 2.6.22.5 #3 SMP PREEMPT Sat Aug 25 21:07:19 CEST 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux ls /sys/block/sda/device/scsi_disk\:3\:0\:0\:0 allow_restart cache_type device FUA manage_start_stop subsystem uevent
Yes, the "feature" (sysfs file present) should lead to shutdown _not_ shutting down the drive so the kernel can do it in a safe way.
BTW, I saw other patches applyed in svn branches to init scripts. Are they not relevant?
Which one do you mean? The latest I saw at the point where you mentioned it the first time, was already months old.
