Indeed, a Python 2.4 boost (and the dbus patches) lead to a somewhat working package, it seems. There's hope that there'll be a 2.4 boost soon, see http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-boost-devel/2007-August/000997.html I'll upload fixed democracyplayer packages ASAP then.
