Thanks for you help. Please bear with me as I'm still learning how to do
packet capturing, :-) but when I thought more about it, I guess it's
these 2 lines starting with
((name "RestartStyleHint") (type "CARD8") ...
with a unrecognised unicode character that are causing the problem.

I set LANG=en_US.UTF-8 in my environment and also please also see my bug
report on nautilus (Bug #433175), if the information helps.
