I get this bug too. 100% reproducable so far. I would like to point out that actually installing or upgrading or removing a package is unnecessary. These are my steps to reproduce:
1) start aptitude 2) press "g" twice Pressing keys has no effect. Although, I can abort out of aptitude with Ctrl-C. When I do this, the characters that I had typed are on the command line. I am using the latest version of aptitude in testing, 0.4.5.4-1. Just "upgraded" today. I'd be happy to help if I can.
