Package: vlc Version: 0.8.6.c-1 Severity: serious Tags: sid The vlc package is now failing to build on some autobuilders, because it has a versioned build-dependency on linux-kernel-headers which is now obsolete:
[...] Toolchain package versions: libc6-dev_2.5-11 linux-kernel-headers_=*=PROVIDED=*= gcc-4.1_4.1.2-12 g++-4.1_4.1.2-12 binutils_2.17cvs20070426-8 libstdc++6-4.1-dev_4.1.2-12 libstdc++6_4.2-20070609-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ dpkg-source: extracting vlc in vlc-0.8.6.c dpkg-buildpackage: source package is vlc dpkg-buildpackage: source version is 0.8.6.c-1 dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture amd64 dpkg-buildpackage: source version without epoch 0.8.6.c-1 dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: linux-kernel-headers (>= 2.5.999-test7-bk-7) dpkg-buildpackage: Build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting. dpkg-buildpackage: (Use -d flag to override.) [...] A full build log can be found at <http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=vlc&arch=amd64&ver=0.8.6.c-1&stamp=1182819327>. linux-kernel-headers has been replaced by linux-libc-dev, now built directly from the linux-2.6 source package. linux-kernel-headers is still present in unstable at the moment, but not all buildds will have it installed, and soon it will go away altogether. Please update your package to either build-depend on linux-libc-dev | linux-kernel-headers (>= $version), or to not build-depend on either package since this build-dependency is satisfied by all versions of l-k-h since oldstable. A quick response to this issue would also be appreciated, since vlc is affected by the ongoing libflac transition.
