Package: gnucash-hbci
Version: 2.0.5-2~hbci.2
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss
Hallo,
Two days ago I tried to issue a transaction using GnuCash with HBCI. I
got a copple of times a GnuCash crash during the transaction. The last
time I tried it, the transaction succeeded.
Today I checked the bank transactions and I found a transaction which I
can only relate to the crashed transactions. This bug is serious because
a bank transaction is made without a notice to the user. This results
in MONEY loss!
Version:
I use a self compiled GnuCash package from the source from:
deb-src http://aqbanking.alioth.debian.org/debian/ unstable/
I have compiled gnucash (2.0.5-2~hbci.1) from source with the
modifications from wiki (--enable-hbci --enable-mt940) (I know, some
options were already set. I shouldn't have changed anything). I installed
the three generated packages (gnucash, gnucash-common, gnucash-hbci).
The dependencies were installed from:
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
I am starting GnuCash with LC_ALL=de_DE.utf-8.
I got the crash by the following actions:
1. Open an account with HBCI anabled.
2. Select menu "Aktionen->Online Aktionen->Einzelüberweisung..."
3. Fill in the fields (Empfänger, Konto-Nr, Bankleitzahl, Betrag,
Verwendungszweck).
4. Press the button "Aktuelle hinzufügen".
4a. Press the button "Sortieren". (not sure if I did this)
5. Press the button "jetzt ausführen".
This results in a crash!
You can prevent this crash by selecting the saved "Überweisungsvorlage"
just before step 5.
I think I got three times a crach (two days ago) trying to transfer
20,00€. Today, I got a report from the bank (by HBCI) with the following
statement:
Betrag: -60,00€
Beschreibung: SB-SAMMELUEBERWEISUNG HBCI VOM 24.05.07 22.29 UHR 0003
UEBERWEISUNGEN
Buchungstext: Konto unbekannt Bank unbekannt
I didn't find the correct transaction jet. I will go to the bank on
Tuesday to check and correct the transaction. They will have to explain
where my money has gone to (unknown).
My idea about the cause of the crash:
During step 4 or 4a, the values are still displayed in the mask,
but the internal variables are emptied. Pressing "jetzt ausführen"
will start a bank transaction with no values set for the "Konto-Nr" and
"Bankleitzahl". By selecting a "Überweisungsvorlage" just before starting
the transaction, will fill all the nessesery fields (and variables).
I hope this report gives enough information. At the moment I advice you
to not test this on a real bank account. You will hear more about this
as soon as I know more from my bank.
Regards,
Vincent Smeets

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. There is no gnucash-hbci
package in Debian, so I've closed the bug report.
You may want to contact the people who provided the sources you were
using, or else the gnucash developers.
Please don't report bugs in Debian against packages which are not in
Debian in the future. Thanks.
Thomas
