There is a rpm-sys channel in my configuration, but I never added that
myself though. It seems to have been added by smart automatically, I'm
not sure why, how and when.
Is the rpm-sys channel automatically added as soon as the rpm binary is
found? I remember that I had the rpm package installed once for some
time (as dependency of the lsb package) but removed the rpm package
again some time later.

As I didn't add the rpm-sys channel myself and it was done automatically
by smart, as it seems, I'm reopening the bug report.
In a case like mine, when the rpm package is uninstalled, it would
probably be best if smart would simply remove/disable the rpm-sys
channel again automatically.

Cheers,
Michael
