I suspect that the failing build daemons are using LD_PRELOAD, and
that it is not safe to unset it. I am unable to find any
documentation in the source explaining why the 'uset LD_PRELOAD' is
there in the first place, but suspect it should be safe to remove it.
At least the source built just fine when I tried it in my Sid chroot.
Should I do another NMU to fix this? I did the last one.
