LANG=C MFLAGS=" -w" MAKEFLAGS="w -- " make-kpkg --append-to-version -powerpc build Also fails, but : LANG=C make-kpkg --append-to-version -powerpc build works. There must be something with the above MAKEFLAGS which is severly broken in presence of the LANG=C option, not sure what though, and as said, the used MAKEFLAGS are a bit confusing for me here.
