That's strange. xemacs21 doesn't handle editor.1.gz
alternatives at all. In xemacs21-bin.postinst we don't use
--slave option of update-alternatives when installing editor
alternatives.
Please send me the output of the following command;
$ /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display editor
In my woody machine,
$ /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display editor
editor - status is manual.
link currently points to /usr/bin/emacs20
/usr/bin/nvi - priority 19
slave editor.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/nvi.1.gz
/bin/elvis-tiny - priority 10
slave editor.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/elvis-tiny.1.gz
/bin/ed - priority -100
/usr/bin/nano - priority 40
slave editor.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/nano.1.gz
/usr/bin/emacs20 - priority 26
slave editor.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/emacs.emacs20.1.gz
/usr/bin/ng - priority 80
/usr/bin/xemacs21 - priority -100
Current `best' version is /usr/bin/ng.
$
