No they weren't, from what I can tell Turcksoft has gone out of business not been bought by Zend. Dmitry Stogov (the programmer who wrote Turck-mmcache under contract to Turcksoft) is now a Zend employee, but the "Zend hired him to kill Turck-mmcache" theory has been raised so many times that Zeev Surasky has even made a public statement to deny it.
