It doesn't mention echo -e specifically. The relevant quote is:

    "...shell scripts specifying /bin/sh as interpreter should only use
    POSIX features."

The -e parameter to echo is a bashism, not part of the POSIX standard;
thus the script breaks when run on a system where, for example, /bin/sh
is dash (a literal -e will be inserted into the logrotate file).
