and I think that this is the source of problem:

GL_RENDERER   = Mesa GLX Indirect
...
3161 frames in 5.1 seconds = 616.985 FPS

so it doesn't use hardware acceleration imho. Let me check with upstream
author if that would cause such slow behavior.

it seems that the problem is that no DRI interface used with Mesa, which
causes somewhat slow experience with keyjnote. On the other hand I am
not sure if that should slow it down so much...
