Hello.

For your information: I have received a request to update one of the
fr.po files for the Debian gettext package. According to Christophe
Combelles <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, the submitter:

> [...] the problem is the following: I did this translation 7 months
> ago, I have contacted the initial translator and I posted the file
> in several lists for reviewing. But it seems nobody is alive, and

> [...]

However, I don't think it would be a good idea to bypass the translation
team, as the gettext manual clearly says this should not be done:

Maintainers should _never ever_ apply PO file bug reports
themselves, short-cutting translation teams. If some translator has
difficulty to get some of her points through her team, it should not be
an option for her to directly negotiate translations with maintainers.
Teams ought to settle their problems themselves, if any. If you, as a
maintainer, ever think there is a real problem with a team, please
never try to _solve_ a team's problem on your own.

So I hope you will be able to solve whatever problems you have (if any)
out of the Debian Bug System. This email is just FYI.

Thanks.
