The situation is activated by the instalation of libqt3-mt (as requested, for
example, by lprof)
After libqt3-mt is installed runing qtiplot Analisys->Fit Wizard leads to a
crash, it also oddly afects multi-peak fits.
Removing libqt3-mt gives back the correct behavior
