Version: 5.0

Hi,

The following part is incorrect:

"This script runs all of the scripts in /etc/rcS.d/ by sourcing or forking
subprocess depending on their file extension to perform initialization"

/etc/init.d/rc no longer sources scripts.

"Then, for compatibility, it runs the files (except those with a `.'in the
filename) in /etc/rc.boot/ too"

I don't think that's the case anymore. It could talk about /etc/rc.local,
though.

"The two-digit number following the 'K' or 'S' indicates the order in which
the script is run. Lower numbered scripts are executed first."

This is no longer true in most cases. It should probably talk about insserv,
startpar, and the LSB headers.

"(BTW, Debian supplies invoke-rc.d as a wrapper for invoking the scripts in
/etc/init.d/.)"

Ugh, no, please don't mention invoke-rc.d. Its use is solely for package
maintainer scripts. Add an advice AGAINST its use, please.
The only interface for the user is the service(8) command.

Regards,
