Package: netbeans Version: 7.0.1+dfsg1-5 I'm using Debian testing and I have tried your proposed test without success
When I attempt to create a new JFrame form (for example) on a new project the GUI is not loading and in that file the GroupLayout class is searched on the package org.jdesktop.layout
