Hi Witold, On one hand I understand your frustration, on the other I see no reason to change defaults. Many people who used to such settings for years might find defaults change nothing but annoying. It doesn't seems to be a problem if you aware of the issue and know how to deal with it. To me mcedit behaviour is clear and predictable: when I need tab I press <tab> twice, when I need spaces I use <space>. Actually it is useful with preparing patches where ability to control tabs/spaces is crucial. Your feelings regarding how students use mcedit do not qualify for severity 'normal'. I set severity to 'wishlist' and I will not fix this but also will not overrule new default if you manage to convince upstream with your suggestion.
