I don't know what my co-maintainers think, but even if it's important, I don't think that it's going to be fixed. The reasons are that, according to the bug report upstream: 1) There are no paches fixing that properly, apparently; 2) Upstream doesn't want to fix it; 3) The new major versions of SDL are going to remove that feature (so the applications relying on that should remove the feature in the mid-term). So I don't think that there's a way that this is going to be fixed, unless somebody provides a reliable patch.
