Package: amanda-client Version: 1:2.6.1p2-3 Severity: important
I've just upgraded one of our servers, an Amanda backup client from ETCH to SQUEEZE. The Amanda server is already running Squeeze. The dumps on the client are now being done using dump rather than xfsdump. They were working with xfsdump on ETCH prior to the upgrade. I have another Amanda client which continues to work as expected. My backup procedure is to freeze the XFS partition, take an LVM snapshot, unfreeze, then mount the LVM snapshot and take the backup from the snapshot. My disklist entries on the server look like: vimes.amazing-internet.net /snapshots/cvsroot comp-user nakor.amazing-internet.net /snapshots/mail comp-user where VIMES is the one running dump incorrectly onm Squeeze and NAKOR correctly uses xfsdump on Etch. Partition info: /dev/mapper/vg_stor-lv_cvsroot_bak on /snapshots/cvsroot type xfs (ro,nouuid) /dev/mapper/vg_stor-lv_mailstor_bak on /snapshots/mail type xfs (ro,nouuid) According to all the docs, Amanda's rundump should detect the parition type and automatically run xfsdump. Not sure why it's not doing that. It certainly was prior to the upgrade. When the dumps are actually running, I'm getting things like the following: vimes.amazing-internet.net /snapshots/cvsroot lev 1 FAILED [dump (24845) /sbin/dump returned 1] /-- vimes.amazing-internet.net /snapshots/cvsroot lev 1 FAILED [dump (24845) /sbin/dump returned 1] sendbackup: start [vimes.amazing-internet.net:/snapshots/cvsroot level 1] sendbackup: info BACKUP=/sbin/dump sendbackup: info RECOVER_CMD=/bin/gzip -dc |/sbin/restore -xpGf - ... sendbackup: info COMPRESS_SUFFIX=.gz sendbackup: info end | DUMP: Only level 0 dumps are allowed on a subdirectory | DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted. ? dump (24845) /sbin/dump returned 1 sendbackup: error [dump (24845) /sbin/dump returned 1] \-------- All not very happy. I'd really appreciate any insight you can offer. Please let me know if you need any further information.
