I'm unable to try the ones since 270.* and later, since I'm unable to

minute or so of use. And since I don't want to risk further harm to the
system, I'll be unable to attempt to use the latest ones. Once I have a
computer with an nvidia card again, I'll resume testing. But until then,
this bug will have to stay as it currently is(which i imagine is
unconfirmed) or whatever it is. I hope to have a new one within the
next few months.

Did you get a new system in the meantime? Did you any further tests on
this old bug?

Current drivers are 290.10 in testing and 295.20 in unstable.

I meant to reply-all on the last one. I'm going to copy-paste it below this one. Anyway, it's slowly going down. And I'm using the latest nvidia-drivers from backports since the current nvidia-drivers segfault when trying to install them.

I've got a new system since then, and it still does it. Memory use increased from 43.7MB to 133.3MB when running a 3d application, it dropped from 157MB(during execution) but still didn't drop back to where it used to be. This is the thing I was talking about, xorg doesn't completely free the memory. After sitting here for ~10min it's dropped by another 8MB so I guess xorg _is_ freeing the memory but it's taking its own sweet time since the memory use is going down over time.
