Package: goffice Severity: wishlist Tags: patch
GNOME Office applications are moving towards libgoffice-0.10 which is not available in debian yet. New libgoffice-0.10 library would be helpful to prepare new releases of applications like gnumeric and abiword (maintained by yours truly). I did some work on packaging of new goffice upstream release - hopefully it may be useful as a base for new debian release or as is. (I've been already using it internally) I derived libgoffice-0.10 from current libgoffice-0.8 but did most of the packaging from scratch. Since there are major changes in goffice API and old version is not going away for a while, I did the packaging in libboost style so new library can co-exist with old one without trying to replace older versions with explicit transition. I think classic transition for libgoffice is hardly possible. For example new libgoffice-0.10 is used by current development branch of gnumeric, when stable gnumeric depends on libgoffice-0.8 which can not be replaced with newer version. Could you please kindly advise what would be your plans and intentions regarding packaging of new goffice library? I will be happy to co-maintain new package with you or if you're not motivated to maintain it, I could probably file a RFS because technically speaking it is a new package. Thank you. You can get source package from the following URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/goffice-0.10/goffice-0.10_0.9.1-1.dsc Regards, Dmitry.
