I've also reproduced the problem while running gnat-gps itself under gdb
(!).  The problem appears to be in g-expect.adb, which is part of
libgnat-4.6.so.  However I don't know yet if it is a bug in g-expect.adb
or a bug in the way gnat-gps calls it.

Thanks a lot for the workaround, I didn't know about the existence of
gdb-minimal.  This workaround suggests that perhaps the full gdb
interferes with Expect by doing things to its tty that Expect doesn't
support.

I'll upload a new gnat-gps that does not recommend gdb but recommends
gdb-minimal instead.
