Dot is meant for graphs; aspic is meant for line art. While both produce drawings based on a plain text input, they do this in different ways. For example, with aspic it's possible to draw a house, or a person, or something similar, should you want to; the same is not true for graphviz. Having said that, if you're interested in maintaining aspic, I recommend that you first familiarize yourself with its source. I'll happily sponsor your uploads, if you need me to. Also: could you point me to the two packages that you've already made? I could have a look at them, and possibly sponsor an upload there as well.
