Hi there, FYI, the same thing happened to me with debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso from Feb 3, while installing it in a virtualbox-ose running on a Debian stable box.
While "Install Graphical" mode doesn't let me use the mouse nor the keyboard, the text installer recognized the keyboard without problem, so I simply installed the system using the text mode. If you want any more details on this, just ask. I'm using standard (Portuguese layout) keyboard and mouse that came with this HP machine.
