I started out with a fresh install of squeeze and promptly moved to sid. After, I installed all the basic X related things. Installed awesome, then slim. Logged in, switched to the zenburn theme and couldn't see the wallpaper. Installed feh and worked like a charm. Please add feh or an alternative to the dependency list.
