Package: file Version: 5.04-5 Severity: normal When I create ~/.magic file I get warning from 'file' utility:
$ file dead.letter /home/user/.magic, 2: Warning: using regular magic file `/etc/magic' dead.letter: ASCII text I found this: http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/NUQmuIFN7uePfne4fsjz fix #771292 - do not show 'using regular magic file' warning for /etc/magic, because this file is not supposed to be compiled So to avoid this warning you need compile magic file. I test and this sentence true. But it is good to have plane text magic file in home directory without warnings.... -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages file depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libmagic1 5.04-5 File type determination library us ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime file recommends no packages. file suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- Best regards! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
