I can say that the library libipe changes SOVERSION each time, so it is true that 7.1.2 is not usable by something compiled against 7.1.1. What is less clear to me is why ipe 7.1.2 cannot use an ipelet compiled with 7.1.1. I don't know the Ipe innards well enough but I accept your experimental evidence. -Steve
