Package: fp-units-db Version: 2.4.0-2 Severity: important Tags: squeeze Version 2.4.0 of the Free Pascal compiler only supports MySQL clients <= 5.0.
Since the MySQL client shipped with Squeeze is 5.1.x, you can't access a MySQL database through an application written in Free Pascal. Considering this mismatch between the MySQL client version supported by the compiler and the one available through Debian repositories, perhaps it would have been a good idea to keep an older version of the client library as an alternative for those needing it. For those needing this to work properly, there's an ugly workaround: just get the libmysqlclient15off package from Lenny and install it on Squeeze, then your Free Pascal program will be able to connect to MySQL just fine. Please note: * I'm filing this bug against the current stable version of the distribution (*squeeze*), since that's what I'm using and that's what probably most users in production environments are running. I don't care if this has already been fixed in wheezy, sid, etc (which is probably the case). The bug report is just a reminder of the fact that this is broken in Squeeze, and it shouldn't be. * I realize that even if Squeeze had been released yesterday, it's quite likely that no one will give a damn about fixing this bug in the current stable release. Anyway, and even if reporting this can be seen as a waste of time, I deciced to file the bug because it might help other developers facing the same issue. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages fp-units-db depends on: ii fp-units-rtl 2.4.0-2 Free Pascal - Runtime Library fp-units-db recommends no packages. fp-units-db suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
