Hi Jurgen Thanks for informing about this issue. I was not even aware of it as the bug was re-assigned to vnc4server package and when bugs are re-assigned the new package maintainer is not informed automatically.
vnc4 is a very old piece of code dating from Xfree86 version 4 days. Many years has passed since then and new functionality has been introduced in X since then. I guess the rendering modes that KDE requires is one of them. The obvious solution would be to build vnc against the latest version of X, but unfortunatly it does not work. I have worked many days on trying to solve that but it is simply not possible. One of the main reasons for this is that this package is not maintained upstream anymore. Since quite many years back. In order to solve this I would essentially need to re-write most of vnc in order to make it work with some later X version and that is simply too much work. Luckily for you there are some good forks of vnc that should be newer. I guess tigervnc is a version that would work. This version is not a part of Debian but there are packages available at TigerVNC homepage. Please let me know if this helps. http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/tigervnc/index.php?title=Welcome_to_TigerVNC // Ola On Thu, Jan 05, 2012 at 11:05:24PM +0100, Jürgen Leibner wrote: > > Hi, > > after more than a year after this bug was filed nothing changed. > Take a look at this screenshots to see the details. > > Greetings > Jürgen Leibner -- --------------------- Ola Lundqvist --------------------------- / o...@debian.org Annebergsslingan 37 \ | o...@inguza.com 654 65 KARLSTAD | | http://inguza.com/ +46 (0)70-332 1551 | \ gpg/f.p.: 7090 A92B 18FE 7994 0C36 4FE4 18A1 B1CF 0FE5 3DD9 / --------------------------------------------------------------- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
